Patrick J. Grady is a partner in our Orange County office. Patrick has more than 30 years experience representing employers and management in all aspects of defending wage and hour class actions; trial and appellate "wrongful discharge," sexual harassment and employment discrimination litigation; unfair labor practice and representation proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board; collective bargaining negotiations and union contract administration; arbitrations and mediations; drafting and implementing employee handbooks, workplace policies and employment contracts; and day-to-day preventive counseling and advice.
In addition, Patrick has vast experience in wage and hour government audits and other compliance matters before California and federal agencies such as the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, U.S. Department of Labor, California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, and U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Patrick has also assisted employers with reduction-in-force programs, including ensuring compliance with state and federal laws such as the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act ("WARN"), and the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act.
Well-respected for his wide array of knowledge on employment matters, Patrick has written extensively on such topics as wage and hour compliance, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, invasion of privacy issues, and employment discrimination. Patrick also regularly speaks on employment law topics to attorneys and employer groups, which have included the Orange County Bar Association, the Employers Group, and the Council on Education in Management. Patrick has also been involved in various legislative activities on behalf of employers to amend California’s wage and hour and independent contractor laws.
Patrick has been married for more than 30 years and has three children. Over the past 15 years, Patrick has been very active in coaching youth baseball and basketball, including serving as head coach on three national championship qualifying basketball teams.

Patrick earned his J.D. from the USC Gould School of Law in 1984. Patrick graduated with great distinction from California State University, Long Beach, with a B.S. in business administration in 1981. Patrick also passed all four parts of the Certified Public Accountant’s exam in one sitting in 1981.
