Loraine L. Pedowitz

Loraine L. Pedowitz is a senior counsel in our Los Angeles office whose practice focuses on bankruptcy and creditors' rights law and litigation. Loraine has significant experience representing federal receivers appointed in actions commenced by the Securities and Exchange Commission. She has represented federal equity receivers in a variety of cases involving investment advisors, real estate loan companies and distressed debt portfolios.

Loraine has also represented secured creditors in virtually all aspects of bankruptcy and state court litigation, including nonjudicial foreclosures (both personal and real property), receiverships, in-court and out-of-court workouts, asset purchases, and relief from stay litigation. She has provided bankruptcy and security opinions in complex financing transactions. In addition, Loraine has represented debtors in possession, trustees, examiners and creditor committees in a wide variety of bankruptcy cases. Reported cases include Williams v. Bennett, 892 F.2d 822 (9th Cir. 1989) and SEC v. Capital Consultants, LLC, 397 F.3d 733 (9th Cir. 2005).

Loraine has lectured on creditors' rights and Ponzi schemes in bankruptcy.

Loraine graduated, with honors, from the University of California, San Diego, with a B.A. Loraine obtained her J.D. from University of California, Berkeley, School of Law at Boalt Hall.
