Brian J. Tanada

Biography

Brian J. Tanada is an associate in the firm's Orange County office, where he is a member of the Litigation Department.

Brian has a broad range of experience litigating commercial, real estate, insurance, and employment disputes in state and federal courts. These matters have involved numerous legal issues including business torts, contract disputes, negligence, unfair competition, product liability, receiverships, foreclosures, creditor's rights, and wage and hour claims. Brian's experience covers various aspects of civil litigation, including motion practice, discovery, mediation, court hearings, trial preparation, arbitration preparation, and appeals. He has represented clients across several industries, including lenders, real estate investors and developers, manufacturers, retailers, technology companies, entertainers, and insurance providers, among others. 

Brian has also been involved with several pro bono projects. At the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Domestic Violence Project he assisted victims of domestic violence with applying for protection and child custody orders. He has also worked with Public Counsel's Adoptions Project to provide representation to parents adopting children in the foster care system.

Prior to joining Allen Matkins, Brian worked at the University of California, Irvine School of Law in the Career Development Office. Prior to that, he worked as an associate at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP in Los Angeles.

Education

Brian received his B.A., summa cum laude, in history from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law where he served as the Chief Managing Editor of the Asian Pacific American Law Journal. While in law school, Brian was a member of the Asian/Pacific Islander Law Students Association and a volunteer with the Immigration Clinic: Violence Against Women Act & U-Visa Project.
