Elizabeth Clark died on October 30, 2017. Elizabeth, who was Real Estate Senior Counsel in our San Francisco office, was a collaborative, supportive, and energetic colleague who put her time into the things she was passionate about: her clients, the legal community, her East Bay community, and environmental issues.
She dedicated a significant amount of time to pro bono activities. The San Francisco Business Times honored Elizabeth for her volunteer work with the Low-Income Eviction Project for Landlords, a clinic that she founded and where she served as supervising attorney for many years. Elizabeth also served as an officer of the Board of Directors of the YMCA of the East Bay and the Board of Directors of the Alameda County Volunteer Legal Services Corporation. Further, she served as general counsel to the Downtown Oakland and Lake Merritt-Uptown Community Benefit Districts, which honored Elizabeth for her outstanding contributions in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
She was recognized for her accomplishments in the real estate industry. In 2017, Bisnow named her a "Power Woman in Bay Area Commercial Real Estate," and in 2015 she was recognized as a "Northern California Real Estate Women of Influence."
Elizabeth was a lifelong learner and teacher. In 2017, she earned a Certificate in Sustainable Energy Management from Presidio Graduate School. She also has served as co-editor of two Allen Matkins weekly publications: "Renewable Energy Update" and "Sustainable Development Update."
Prior to moving to California, Elizabeth represented a wide array of international clients in the U.S. Virgin Islands. While living there, she was president of the Virgin Islands Bar Association; and she served as a faculty member at the University of the Virgin Islands, teaching real property law and legal research.
It is with great sadness that we mark her passing. She leaves a hole in our Allen Matkins family.
