Guy Rounsaville Returns to Allen Matkins as Director of Diversity

Leader in Workplace Diversity Will Drive Firm's Diversity Efforts

SAN FRANCISCO - Sept. 28, 2009 - Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis LLP, a leading California business and real estate law firm, announces the appointment of Guy Rounsaville, a leader in workplace diversity and co-founder of the California Minority Counsel Program (CMCP), as its new Director of Diversity. 

As Allen Matkins' first Director of Diversity, Rounsaville will be responsible for expanding the firm's diversity initiatives, including law school and lateral recruiting and enhancing the firm's programs for the development and advancement of its attorneys.

Rounsaville was previously with Allen Matkins from 1999 to 2001, when he served as co-managing partner of the firm's San Francisco office and head of the firm's corporate department, where his practice focused on corporate, business and banking law.

Rounsaville currently serves as a member of the steering committee of CMCP.  Started in 1989, CMCP's mission is to promote and sustain diversity and inclusion in California's legal profession by developing professional opportunities for attorneys of color and providing business, legal and lay communities access to their talent.  CMCP's annual John Essex and Guy Rounsaville In-House Counsel Diversity Award is given to the CMCP corporate or public agency member that has demonstrated the strongest commitment to diversity.

Most recently, Rounsaville served as senior vice president and general counsel at The Doctors Company.  Prior to joining The Doctors Company, he served as the executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at La Salle Bank Corporation.  Prior to that , he was executive vice president, general counsel, corporate secretary and executive diversity committee officer at Visa International.  He also worked at Wells Fargo & Company for 29 years, serving as the general counsel and corporate secretary for 21 years.

Rounsaville is a board member of the Legal Aid Society of San Francisco and the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.  He is also a former member of the editorial advisory board for California Lawyer, is on the advisory board for the Institute for Corporate Counsel, and is on the advisory committee for the Practising Law Institute.

Rounsaville received his J.D. from Hasting College of the Law and his B.A. from Stanford University.
