Michael J. Holmes is a partner in our San Diego office. His practice focuses on commercial real estate transactions, including retail, office and mixed-use leases, acquisitions and dispositions, development and transactions concerning the ongoing operation and management of commercial property. Representative projects include transactions at high-rise office towers, mixed-use redevelopments and retail shopping centers.

Mike has a unique perspective with respect to his transactions. Prior to his current real estate transaction practice, Mike litigated commercial real estate disputes for many years, including handling matters involving purchase and sale disputes, landlord-tenant issues, easement battles, construction disputes, ADA and state accessibility requirements and resource issues.

Mike's clients range from large institutional investors to startup companies and entrepreneurial individuals. Mike has particular experience with acting as "in-house" counsel for several institutional clients.

Mike has authored articles and lectured on subjects including commercial leasing, accessibility laws and regulations, construction law, and commercial center management.

Mike received his B.A. from the University of California, San Diego, where he was elected President of the Associated Students, and his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law, where he was Editor in Chief of the U.C. Davis Law Review.
