Bob Moore, a litigation partner, is a trial lawyer who has earned multiple top impact verdicts and completed over 70 jury trials in state and federal courts—and more—throughout his distinguished career. From day one, his job is to get a case ready for court and see it through to the end.
A former professional football player for the Oakland Raiders, Denver Broncos, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Stanford University Sports Hall of Famer, Bob knows what it takes to be strategic and tough against the opponent. Clients don't hire him to sit down with the opposing party to settle a dispute, they hire him to win.
While other counsel may get bogged down in unnecessary and ineffective tactics, from start to finish, Bob stays focused on what matters most in the courtroom—telling the best overall story. He works closely with his clients—real estate developers, general counsels, corporate executives, company founders, and private individuals—to frame their desired outcome and craft the compelling argument. He also helps them navigate the often stressful process of going to trial, and, once complete, counts many clients among his friends for life.
Bob’s trial preparation also works to his clients’ advantage, if settlement options are on the table. Adversaries know that he’s willing, able, and prepared to go to trial, which tilts negotiations in his clients’ favor.
Bob ensures that the right resources—both personnel and tactics—are assigned to each client matter. His cases range from hedge fund, technology, and commercial landlord/tenant issues to complex eminent domain, land use, and contract disputes. He is involved in partnership and corporate disputes, environmental lawsuits, professional negligence cases, sports conflicts, products liability lawsuits, civil rights, and bankruptcy or creditors’ rights matters, and more.
Among Bob’s career highlights are the successful defense of a San Francisco police chief for violations of the First Amendment and defense verdicts for Irwin Memorial Blood Bank in multiple lawsuits alleging HIV infection caused by blood transfusions. He won a $6.1 million jury verdict against the city of San Jose over a breach of contract claim related to a permitting issue and led the successful defense for Cutter Laboratories, Inc. in cases alleging infection from contaminated blood products.
As a professional athlete, Bob served as the vice president of the National Football League Players' Association and was co-chairman of the NFL Safety Committee, a member of the Permanent Negotiating Committee for the NFLPA, and the Bert Bell NFL Retirement Plan. He has been a guest on KTVU's "Mornings on Two," appearing as a commentator on legal issues including the O.J. Simpson trial, Elián González' immigration matter, and the Scott Peterson trial, and appeared on the Nancy Grace court television program and Court TV radio as a trial analyst.
