Jared C. Kassan

Jared Kassan counsels individuals and companies on a variety of federal, state, and local tax issues, including partnership taxation, 1031 exchanges, debt workouts, tenancies in common, California property tax, and California documentary transfer tax. Known as a problem-solver, Jared often works on transactions where tax planning and entity structuring are a central aspect of the deal, and he works with clients ranging from small developers to large multi-national corporations.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Jared worked for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency creating statistical models using mortgage and other bank data to measure compliance risk at nationally chartered banks. Jared's skillset with numbers and data analysis has enabled him to assist his clients with issues such as calculating and allocating distributable proceeds, creating IRR models, and determinations of basis.

Jared served as a law clerk to the Honorable James S. Halpern of the United States Tax Court in Washington, D.C. While in law school, he worked for the Office of Chief Counsel at the Internal Revenue Service. He was also a summer associate at an international law firm, and served as a judicial extern at the United States Bankruptcy Court. 


Jared received his J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 2014 with a business law specialization and was elected to the Order of the Coif.  During law school, he served as a Managing Editor for the UCLA Entertainment Law Review and was a member of the Empirical Legal Scholars program. Jared received his B.A., cum laude, in economics, with a minor in mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania.
