Rising home prices and stagnant wages in San Diego County are creating a significant gap between wages earned and cost of housing for middle class residents who want to live close to work. ULI San Diego/Tijuana is taking a leadership role in realistically facing the issues, while offering creative solutions for achieving affording middle class housing. As part of that initiative, ULI's Residential Council recently hosted a half-day program concerning "A New Perspective on Housing Affordability in San Diego." Tim Hutter is a member of the Council and hosted one of the roundtable discussions titled, "Leveraging Under-Utilized Land," which explored innovative ideas for stimulating infill development to sustain livability.
