New Partners are based in the firm’s Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Francisco offices
LOS ANGELES – June 28, 2023 – Allen Matkins, a full-service real estate and business law firm, announced today that Margaret “Marty” Akerblom, Nicholas DuBroff, Emily Feder, Peter Griffin, Timothy Kelly, Grayson “Trey” Marshall, Nathaniel Touboul, and Andrew Wood, have been elected to the firm partnership, effective July 1, 2023. These new partners represent various practice groups, including real estate, litigation, land use, and environmental.

Marty, a member of the firm’s Land Use, Environmental, and Natural Resources Group in the Los Angeles office, represents public agencies and developers on a variety of land use and environmental matters pertaining to commercial, residential, and mixed-use development projects in jurisdictions throughout California. She is a trusted strategist for her clients, advising them as they work through federal, state, and local regulatory and entitlement processes related to their developments.
Nick is a land use lawyer in the firm’s San Francisco office where he assists developers, planners, architects, and property owners to obtain development approvals. He has guided clients through California’s land use and environmental laws to entitle a range of projects, including residential, mixed-use, office, R&D, and renewable energy developments.
Emily is a real estate lawyer in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Her practice focuses on representing borrowers and lenders in the financing of real property assets, as well as acquisitions and dispositions of real property assets. Emily’s background and significant experience in community development finance gives her a comprehensive perspective on real estate law and she enjoys seeing her work have positive and tangible impacts on communities.
Peter is a business and real estate litigation lawyer in the firm’s Los Angeles office. He has wide-ranging experience including providing counsel on disputes between partners, shareholders and corporate directors/officers, employers and employees, commercial landlords and tenants, and buyers and sellers of real estate. Peter also has significant trial experience, and has successfully represented clients in jury trials throughout California.
Tim is a member of the Real Estate Department in the firm’s San Francisco office where he advises clients on a broad range of commercial real estate transactions across the country, with an emphasis on financing, leasing, and acquisitions and dispositions. Tim has extensive experience providing counsel to buyers, sellers, and landlords of office, retail, industrial, multifamily, and mixed-use projects. He serves as lead counsel for the leasing and day-to-day operational matters on several institutional portfolios comprising over one million square feet.
Trey is a litigation trial lawyer in the firm’s San Francisco office with a practice focusing on complex commercial, technology, and real estate litigation in both state and federal court. A highly skilled trial lawyer, Trey began his legal career at the California lawyer General’s office where he honed his courtroom skills handling dozens of cases from inception through their resolution, including a federal jury trial just one year out of law school. Trey has cost-effectively resolved numerous high-stakes and sensitive matters for a broad range of companies and individuals both inside and outside the courtroom through jury trials, arbitrations, mediations, and negotiated settlements.
Nate, a real estate finance and transactional lawyer in the firm’s San Francisco office, represents clients in all facets of complex real estate transactions across the country, including secured lending, commercial leasing, acquisitions, and dispositions. Nate has represented a diverse group of clients including developers, closely-held entities, institutional investors, life insurance companies and global technology companies and has worked on some of the largest real estate transactions in the Bay Area.
Andrew is a real estate litigator in the firm’s Orange County office. Andrew has litigated real estate disputes throughout California, with an emphasis on commercial lease disputes (on behalf of both landlords and tenants), nondisclosure disputes in both commercial and residential purchase and sales, and construction payment disputes. Andrew's experience encompasses all stages of litigation, from pre-litigation dispute resolution all the way through verdict.
