Bankruptcy Of Counsel Ivan Gold was recently quoted in a San Francisco Chronicle article, detailing the experience of Brook and Zach Davis, a California couple who invested $460,000 in a modular home from Connect Homes, only to face significant delays and the company's subsequent liquidation. Despite demolishing their existing house and preparing the site as instructed, the promised modular home was never delivered, leaving the family in financial and emotional distress. Connect Homes filed for what is known as an assignment for the benefit of creditors, or ABC, on Jan. 14, public records show. This process is best understood as an “out of court liquidation” — not a bankruptcy proceeding, but essentially a “glorified foreclosure,” according to Gold.
