This panel explored the current issues involving agricultural land in California that affect environmental planning and planners in both agencies and in private industry. The panel included two members of the AEP Agricultural Issues Committee that published a guidance paper entitled, ”Guidance to Public Agencies on Selected Agricultural Issues in California” in 2011. Among other topics, the panel explored the future of the Williamson Act after the loss of local funding, and the siting of ”green” energy facilities (i.e., wind, solar) on agricultural land.
