Land use lawyer Paige assists commercial and industrial developers in navigating the entitlement process and obtaining and defending land use and environmental approvals. With more than 15 years of industry experience, Paige is known for his ability to work with a client to take a project from its inception and due diligence stage through entitlements, construction and ultimately, completion. His practice includes representing clients in both transactional matters and in all aspects of litigation before state and federal courts, including matters involving due diligence, land use and development entitlements, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and Coastal Act compliance, eminent domain and inverse condemnation, water rights, the Outdoor Advertising Act, and general planning and zoning laws.
Paige’s experience working on both small and large-scale development projects informs his ability to successfully manage problems and craft and execute solutions that are economically and temporally effective and serve his clients’ best interest. His keen ability to foresee potential problems and address unanticipated issues that arise during the course of the development process allows him to resolve issues expeditiously, saving clients time and money and ensuring that their project remains on track.
Paige recently worked with his client and city staff to develop a strategy and identify a mechanism in the City’s Zoning Code and Specific Plan that would allow for the administrative entitlement of the client’s project without the need for a public hearing, which also served to avoid public scrutiny and environmental review under CEQA. His savvy and strategic work allowed the city to issue the approvals with ease while also saving the client significant time and money and minimizing the project’s exposure to both entitlement and litigation risk.
