For nearly three decades, creditors and other parties in interest have relied on Michael to represent them in bankruptcy matters and related litigation in cases pending in jurisdictions throughout the country. Michael has also worked closely with lenders and creditors on pre-bankruptcy and transactional matters including workouts and foreclosures. In every matter, Michael strives to maximize client recoveries. Clients appreciate Michael's no-nonsense, pragmatic, business-based approach, as well as his creativity and thorough understanding of federal and state laws related to creditor's rights and remedies.
His extensive experience makes him especially well-suited to work with commercial real estate landlords and real estate lenders which he regularly represents in a variety of real estate-related bankruptcy-related matters countrywide. His bankruptcy and creditors' rights practice also includes handling judicial and non-judicial foreclosures, receiverships, in and out-of-court workouts, and cramdown and relief from stay litigation.
Michael is an integral part of the Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy practice, assisting colleagues with transactional matters such as purchase and sale agreements, commercial leases, and commercial loans. He is also exceptionally adept at representing commercial real estate landlords with respect to credit enhancements, including letters of credit.
Michael has presented and published legal alerts on various bankruptcy matters and has contributed to the Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB)’s annual California guide on office leasing, addressing credit enhancements for commercial real estate leases.
