Jonathan L. Lorenzen

Partner

Jonathan is a real estate partner in the San Diego office. He has a wide range of transactional experience, with an emphasis on commercial leasing, acquisitions, and dispositions. Jonathan’s recent projects include mixed-use redevelopments, high-rise commercial buildings, industrial parks, life science projects, and shopping center and other retail properties located throughout the United States. Clients value his ability to efficiently manage and negotiate with outside development teams, and he has strong working relationships with many key players within the real estate industry.

  • Leasing. Jonathan has extensive experience structuring office, retail, industrial, and other commercial space leases and ground leases for sophisticated landlords and tenants, as well as related subleases, easements, covenants, conditions and restrictions, and other ancillary agreements.
  • Acquisitions and Dispositions. Jonathan represents buyers and sellers in purchase and sale transactions for all asset classes, which representation includes the negotiation of related agreements required for closing and the ongoing maintenance and management of projects. 
  • Leasing. Jonathan has extensive experience structuring office, retail, industrial, and other commercial space leases and ground leases for sophisticated landlords and tenants, as well as related subleases, easements, covenants, conditions and restrictions, and other ancillary agreements.
  • Acquisitions and Dispositions. Jonathan represents buyers and sellers in purchase and sale transactions for all asset classes, which representation includes the negotiation of related agreements required for closing and the ongoing maintenance and management of projects. 
    • Serves as lead retail leasing counsel for several historic mixed-use districts in downtown Denver, Colorado, on behalf of private equity and REIT landlords.
    • Represents landlords in leasing of Class A office assets located in the Phoenix, Arizona, metropolitan area.
    • Leasing of retail space at historic redevelopment projects in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
    • Structured lease and related agreements for both landlords and tenants at urban renewal projects involving the reuse of industrial space in Denver, Colorado; Los Angeles, California; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Seattle, Washington.
  • Coordinate acquisition and development of properties throughout the Western U.S. for retail restaurant use and development.
  • Negotiated and structured full-building lease for a 25,000-square-foot gym space at a historic property in Seattle, Washington, for an institutional landlord.
  • Represented a receiver for the disposition of approximately 35 properties located in California and Nevada.
  • Responsible for all leasing of an institutional owner’s Salt Lake City office portfolio, which includes a 500,000-square-foot corporate campus and a 167,000-square-foot historic office building.
  • Represented the developer for leasing a 1 million-square-foot industrial project in Salt Lake City, Utah.
  • Structured and negotiated ground lease agreements for the development of retail and restaurant assets on behalf of owners and tenants throughout the Western United States.
  • Negotiated over 60 retail leases for a public REIT’s mixed-use development in San Diego, California.
  • Prepared and negotiated retail and office lease transactions for historic buildings in Chicago, Illinois.
  • Advised institutional owner in the leasing of retail space at a new shopping center development in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
  • Advised both landlords and tenants of healthcare and biotech lab assets in San Diego, California.
  • Trends in Commercial Real Estate: Negotiating Lease Terms, Tenant Improvement Challenges, and Other Landlord/Tenant Legal Issues
