Emily is a real estate partner in the Los Angeles office. Specializing in real estate finance, she advises sophisticated borrowers and lenders in debt transactions secured by properties across asset classes and regions. In addition to her finance work, Emily helps clients navigate purchase and sale, leasing, and various other transactional matters. By monitoring and researching real estate trends and emerging industries, Emily keeps her clients apprised of new developments and offers timely, market-oriented counsel.
Before joining Allen Matkins, Emily was a vice president in the community development banking group at a leading national bank, where she sourced, structured, and led origination and closing of new markets tax credit transactions for the western United States. Emily’s background in community development gives her a holistic approach to real estate law, helping her deliver practical solutions to her client’s business objectives. She also previously practiced law in the tax credit finance and syndication group at an international law firm in Washington, D.C. and California.
Emily, who began her professional career as a teacher, currently serves on the Associates Board for KIPP SoCal Public Schools, a nonprofit organization that operates 23 high-performing, open-enrollment charter public schools. She is also a member of the Junior Committee for the Phase One Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting clinical cancer research, education, and treatment programs.
