Grant P. Alexander

Grant is a partner in the Los Angeles and Orange County offices and litigator in the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group. He regularly defends public and private companies across numerous industries in complex litigation matters, including:

  • Wage and hour class actions;
  • Discrimination claims;
  • Harassment claims;
  • Misappropriation of trade secrets; and
  • Wrongful termination.

He also counsels companies on various compliance issues involving free speech in the workplace, the preparation of employee handbooks, sexual harassment training, executive employment agreements, and adhering to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations for company websites and mobile apps. As another aspect of his advisory practice, he serves as an external human resources consultant for CEOs and owners of smaller businesses.

  • Clothing Distributer. Lead trial counsel as a corporate plaintiff in a jury trial on claims for conversion and breach of contract that resulted in a finding of fraud, as well as an award of punitive damages against the defendant.
  • Global Insurance Company. A five-day jury trial on claims of gender and ethnic discrimination and retaliation, obtaining a complete defense verdict and an award of costs against the plaintiff.
  • International Financial Services Firm. Obtained a favorable order after a multiday Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) arbitration in which the client was accused of, among other things, wrongfully terminating an employee who absconded with the client’s trade secrets.
  • Stevedore Superintendents. Defeated a motion for class certification managing the Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Oakland in a putative class action brought by the plaintiffs on behalf of hundreds of employees, claiming that the superintendents were not properly compensated and should have been classified as hourly employees under the California Labor Code.
  • Client. Obtained dismissal of a complaint alleging damages exceeding $100 million based on the filing of an aggressive anti-SLAPP motion and threatened sanctions.
  • Fortune 500 Company. Obtained a favorable FINRA arbitration ruling that allowed the client to continue utilizing the services of a high-ranking employee recently hired from a competitor.
  • Client. Obtained dismissal with prejudice for a client named as defendant in a race discrimination and wrongful termination lawsuit just days before serving the plaintiff with a summary judgment motion.
